Sam Hunter made his first ring at 10 years of age. Learning from books and observation he continued making jewellery throughout his school career and left determined to pursue his passion.
 
Whilst working for Theo Fennell he got a rare insight into the world of unique jewellery and saw how truly special works of art came to be created. Always being drawn to colour, form and shapes of fine jewellery whether it be a section of funk, elegance or outright bold flare Sam became fascinated with the design as well as the physical craft of creation. In 2011, at the age of 18, he became one of the youngest entrants to ever achieve the FGA Gemmology diploma gaining huge knowledge of gemstones and an understanding of the science and beauty behind the earth’s secret treasures.
 
At that time he started a 6 year apprenticeship in London’s Hatton Garden through the prestigious Goldsmiths’ Company. He was classically trained by one of the best craftsmen in the country, Stan Somerford, one of only three jewellers ever to win the highest accolade in craftsmanship, the Jacques Cartier award.
 
Specialising in diamond jewellery it was here that he started to hone his skills and appreciate the time and dedication required to learn traditional techniques in the world of high end bespoke handmade pieces. In 2017 after completing his apprenticeship he became a Freeman of the City of London. He was then admitted into the Guild of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths by Service.
 
Having spent over 30,000 hours over the last 14 years at a bench making jewellery, whether that be in a bedroom, a shed or at a workshop, his passion for creating and designing entirely handmade, high quality jewellery burns stronger than ever. His obsessive attention to detail in making ‘one of a kind’ pieces of wearable art continues to grow.
